Iuri Golubev, M.D. joins the Retina Group of New York after six years as a top-rated retinal specialist in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Golubev, a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, brings tremendous retinal expertise to Long Island.
His training included a two year Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at the prestigious LSU, New Orleans, Louisiana program and a three year ophthalmology residency at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition, his Surgical Internship was at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida. Dr. Golubev also completed a two year Research Fellowship in electrophysiology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida, the number one ophthalmology program in the U.S.
In addition to his comprehensive experience treating vitreous, retina and macula diseases, he has expertise in uveitis and unusual ocular problems. He has a special interest in the evolving field of hereditary and genetic retinal diseases and has presented his work to the American Society of Retinal Surgeons. He is an avid marathon runner and fisherman and is fluent in English, Spanish, Russian and Romanian languages.
